Job Summary:
The Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions is a member of the Dental team that includes the Dental Site Administrator, Dentist, Dental Hygienists, Dental Assistants and Front Office. They support the mission and values of Maple City Health Care Center (MCHCC) by providing quality care in a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides direct assistance to dentist or dental hygienist in patient care
- Documents dental and periodontal charting
- Scribes for dentist as needed
- Exposes dental x-rays
- Educates patients and caregivers
- Prepares operatories for patients
- Maintains supplies, equipment and inventory
- Expanded Clinical Assistance
- Assists hygienist as needed
- Applies pit and fissure sealants
- Places amalgams/composites as requested by dentist
- Other duties that support our shared work, as assigned
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Sufficient experience in cross-cultural settings and commitment to work collaboratively within the organization
- Bilingual: English/Spanish required
- Computer knowledge/skills including Windows applications
Education and Experience:
- Dental assistant certificate with expanded functions training required
- High school diploma or GED
- Three years of experience in a dental office
- Experience using an electronic medical record or other integrated software system preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
- Ability to perform prolonged or extensive standing and walking
- Ability to perform considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching
- Ability to perform prolonged periods of time in front of a computer
