A Health Care Home - Quick Overview
Some health care providers think of their work as simply providing services or products. We think of Maple City Health Care Center as a health care home. A home is where a person feels safe, welcome, known, and valued.

How does MCHCC adapt to different cultures in the community?
Our adaptation relies on relationships. We listen carefully to our patients. Patients from different cultures serve on our Board of Directors. We invest in adapting to languages because we believe that every person has the right to health care in her or his preferred language.
-
How does MCHCC recruit and retain staff?
We often build jobs around people who feel a strong connection with our mission (as opposed to "filling" a job description). People who come to work for us often discover new skills and interests and we seek to change their job accordingly. We retain staff through our values -- empowerment, relationships, and integration. Staff loyalty comes from the satisfaction and health that these values bring.
-
What are the benefits of working at MCHCC?
The primary benefits are the health and satisfaction that come from our relationships with patients, our neighborhood, and with each other. Maple City Health Care Center seeks to provide employees with an adequate wage or salary, with health care benefits, retirement benefits, education benefits, and with emergency financial support.

By increasing the intensity of primary care and focusing on relationship-based care, Brenner realized a 40% reduction in the cost of health care. Interestingly, the amount of Brenner's savings parallels data about the cost of health care for Maple City Health Care's Medicaid patients (40% lower than the state average).
